Camillus Eagle Scout Knives: The Nitty Gritty Details

The new collection of knives is out in full force, and between the craftsmanship of each piece and the story behind the assortment (oh, you haven’t heard it yet? Check it out here!), each knife carries a level of significance and meaning that makes it the perfect gift for both Eagle Scouts and adventurers alike.

Here is a more in-depth breakdown of the specs and features of these knives. Every single piece and part of this collection is made in the USA.

Camillus Knife

Blades (Fixed and Folding)

Both the folding and fixed knife blades are made of 1095 high carbon steel that is polished to a mirror finish. These easy-to-sharpen, durable blades consist of mostly carbon and have a hardness ranking of 58 on the Rockwell scale.

Folding Measurements and Specs

The folding knives have drop point blades that measure 3" in length. They measure 6.75" when fully open and 4" when folded. A sturdy belt clip is positioned on the handle, allowing for a tip-down carry when stored. The finger flipper for opening has smooth action due to the dual ball bearings (which each contain nine balls) located at the fulcrum, and the knife locks in place with a liner lock. The finger flipper works directly with the bearings. This tab is part of the blade and protrudes through the back of the knife when it is closed. With a little pressure, the blade can be pushed open, and if enough force is applied, the knife will open fully. This is a huge benefit to allow single-handed knife use. The folding blade knives weigh 4.2 oz.

Fixed Measurements and Specs

The fixed blade knives have drop point blades that measure 4” in length and 8.5” overall. Each fixed blade comes with a custom leather sheath that is embossed with the Eagle Scout logo and has an integrated belt loop. These sheaths are made from cow hide sourced from Oklahoma. The fixed blade knives weigh 5.1 oz. (7.2 oz. with sheath).

Black G10 Handles

The black handles for both the folding and fixed blades are constructed of rugged black G10 material with an inlayed brass Eagle Scout emblem. G10 is an extremely durable product consisting of layers of fiberglass soaked in resin, then highly compressed and baked. It is impervious to moisture or liquid and physically stable under climate change.

Brown Micarta Handles

The brown handles are made of rugged Micarta® material and each handle features an inlayed brass Eagle Scout emblem. Micarta® is a synthetic material made from paper, linen or thick canvas impregnated with resin under pressure. It is extremely resistant to water, cold, heat, rot or corrosion.

Display Boxes

Each style of knife (folder and fixed) has a box that is uniquely made to fit that style. They are built with rich walnut wood sourced from Virginia, and are outfitted with brass hinges and latches. They are laser etched with the Eagle Scout logo on the glass and the foam insert is precisely cut for the best display of craftsmanship of each knife. The fixed blade display boxes are designed to showcase the knife and sheath separately.
