Top 5 Gifts for Fishing Fanatics

If you have been racking your brain for gift ideas for the fishing lovers in your life, you can now rest easy! We have put together our favorite present ideas that cover a variety of price points, so you can finish up your shopping and just enjoy the season.

  1. The Shakespeare Cedar Canyon Fly Fishing Kit and a spool of fishing line – Perfect for beginner or recreational anglers, this fly fishing kit has everything you need to get started with an amazing hobby! And the spool of line speaks for itself… there is nothing worse than your line breaking and not having backup!
  2. A grab-bag of bait like Atlas Marshmallows Trout Bait and Atlas Best Bite Salmon Eggs OR a couple of lure baits like Berkley PowerBait Minnows and Berkley PowerBait Grubs – Catch pretty much anything with these baits/lures. They are designed to have the scent and color to attract all the fish you could want! Grab all four and wrap them up together for your favorite fisherman (and here’s hoping that you get invited on their next fishing trip and they let you use some!) OR throw them into a stocking for fun little stocking stuffers!
  3. A solid knife like the Camillus Camlite Knife – It seems like the curse of a fisherman that somehow, knives go missing… whether from falling overboard or just straight up disappearing. Not sure what is up with that, but here we are. This knife comes in at an awesome price point and is sharp and durable. Bonus… the knife clip means it can attach to you to avoid the (seemingly) inevitable fisherman’s curse (lol).
  4. A first aid kit – This kit is optimal for fishing because it is compact enough to fit in your pocket and it seals up so that it is waterproof! It is perfect for taking care of incidental nicks and scrapes!
  5. The Leatherman Super 300 – Really, you should never do anything without having a multi-tool handy, because Be Prepared and all. This one has 19 tools in one and what I love about this one for fishing specifically is that it is less expensive than the other Leatherman tools (minus the kid-sized Leap), so if you end up in the water with it, it is not the end of the world.

And if none of this seems quite right, we’ve got plenty of other gear to choose from (check out this gift guide for camping lovers!). Be sure to check it all out and get “gift shopping” crossed off of your to-do list!

Happy holidays, Scouts!
